Bob Bailey has been involved with ringette for over 20 years. He started coaching in the car on the way home from the rink, but soon found it to be more fun and more effective to be on the ice. For over twenty years he has either been an assistant coach, a co-coach or a head coach on level A and AA teams from Tweens to Debs.
As each of his three daughters, in turn, graduated to university, it became apparent that there were limited opportunities for busy university students to continue playing and enjoying a sport that they had started in and played every year, from the age of five. This was particularly true for ringette players moving to a new university city, unaware of opportunities to continue in the sport. Thus, with the co-coaches John, Paul and Bonnie, a little industry and a lot of passion, the University Ringette team came into being.
St. Albert Ringette Association (SARA) was Bob's home ringette association until his move to the University of Alberta. For St. Albert he contributed in various roles, including being the Association President.
In his other life Bob is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Alberta. His specialty is gastroenterology and liver disease.
